Clicking brings up a letter written by Mark Cardoza…DSA President.
The fourth and final paragraph of the letter explains that the DSA represents the 220 sworn members of the Adult Detention Division of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
Until recently, when the two divisions (patrol and custodial) voted to separate….the title “DSA” represented all SO deputies.
I believe the majority of the public would still think of the DSA as such.
I think it should be made clear on the first page that the endorsement is coming from custodial deputies only.
The Endorsement Vote Tally
The DSA….(made up of approx. 220 Custodial Deputies) voted to endorse a candidate for Sheriff in the 2010 election.
The count was:
Christianson 78
Rob Jackson 41
There were approx. 100 custodial deputies that did not vote.
Not bad for candidate Rob Jackson.
Pretty sad for incumbent Christianson.
This is DSA President Mark Cardoza’s first line of his letter outlining the endorsement for Christianson.
By a 65% majority vote, members of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association have chosen to endorse Adam Christianson in the 2010 election for Stanislaus County Sheriff.
Later in the letter he states the vote came out 65% to 35% in favor of Adam Christianson with 60% of eligible voters participating in the poll.
Never are the numbers 41 or 78 mentioned.
